Our Story
SummitStride Outfitters started in a garage in Bend, Oregon, in 1998. Our founder, a backcountry guide frustrated with packs that fell apart mid-trip, decided to build something better.
Twenty-five years later, we're still in Bend, still obsessing over suspension systems and load transfer, and still testing every pack in the Cascades before it ships.
Founded in a Bend, Oregon garage with one goal: build packs that don't quit.
Introduced the FlexFrame suspension system, revolutionizing load transfer.
Launched lifetime repair program—we stand behind every stitch.
Committed to 85% recycled materials across all product lines.
Six core packs serving hikers, backpackers, and travelers worldwide.
Our Philosophy
We believe a good pack should feel like an extension of your body, not a burden on your back. Every design decision we make centers on real-world use.
🎯 Function Over Fashion
We design around use cases, not trends. Every feature earns its place.
⚖️ Comfort Under Load
Fit, suspension, and load transfer are our obsessions.
🔧 Built to Last
We'd rather fix a pack than sell you a new one.
🌲 Tested in the Wild
Every pack earns its stripes in the Oregon Cascades.
Sustainability
We love the outdoors. We'd like them to stick around. That's why we've committed to building gear that's as easy on the planet as it is on your back.
Recycled materials in our fabric
Our 210D and 420D recycled ripstop nylon comes from certified recycled suppliers. We use water-resistant polyurethane coatings that minimize environmental impact while maximizing weather protection.
End-of-Life Program: When your pack finally gives out (it'll take a while), send it back. We'll recycle it and give you store credit toward your next one.
Our Promise
When you buy a SummitStride pack, you're not just getting gear—you're getting our commitment to stand behind it. Forever.
